Target 1: Students can explain human values and how they play into our everyday decisions.
ReplyDelete* "Explain" is a bit vague, but the verbs you list make it a lot clearer.
Target 2: Students can make connections between the protagonist of a novel and their own experiences.
* Excellent!
Target 3: Students can properly identify literary elements within a novel.
* Hmmm. "Identify" is usually associated with the knowledge/comprehension levels. I think you could choose a better verb if you thought about it.
Target 4: Students can use literary elements to explain a theme.
* I don't undertand this one. Are you asking them to use simile or personification to explain the themes of Hamelt? Or do you mean that they can find the themes expressed through literary elements?
Target 5: Students can prioritize their own values and how they play into their decisions.
* I like this one very much.
Target 6: Students can compare and relate similar life situations from a novel to their own lives.
* Excellent.
Target 7: Students can show the effects one has on another by creating original fictional pieces.
* This one needs a bit of work. You have what you want the student to demonstrate ("the effects one has on another") and the format you want that task to take ("original fictional pieces"). These are two distinct concepts, and only the first one belongs in a learning target.
